Commercial launch of Honda 100cc bike in March 2010
At last speculations ended about Honda's new bike. The first 100cc bike from Honda is scheduled to be introduced in India in March, 2010. Although, the bike is reported to be displayed at Auto Expo in January. According to insiders, the bike will have a 110cc engine and priced between Rs 45,000 to Rs 47,000. The new bike will be positioned against TVS Star City and Sports, Bajaj Discover, Hero Honda Splendor Plus etc. Details of main features and technical specifications are still awaited.
Honda plans new facility:
Honda is also forced to set up a new plant for two-wheeler production as its existing plant is running out of capacity. The installed capacity of the plant is 1.5 million units and the production has reached to 1.2 million units so far. It is expected that the plant will reach to optimum installed capacity by March 2010. Mr. Guleria further said that site and other things for new plant is still not discussed. Last year, Honda sold 1.07 million two wheelers in India and hoped to sell 1.25 million units in the current FY. Honda's popular models are Honda Activa and Honda Unicorn.
