• Suzuki's Bandit and GSX1000R ready to hit Indian Road

    After getting good response from super bikes like Suzuki Intruder and Suzuki Hayabusa, Japanese bike maker company Suzuki is planing to launch two new bikes in India. The company has recently decided to launch its best two products: Suzuki Bandit and Suzuki GSX100R in Indian Market.

    Bandit and GSX100R bikes are most selling bikes across the world and now Indians are taking interest to buy these bikes. So the company has decided to launch these Naked street fighters.

    Suzuki Bandit

    The bikes might be launched in February in Indian market. According to some media reports, the Bandit 1250 would be launched on 15th February. Bandit has 1250cc engine and its expected price is Rs. 9.5 lakhs. The Bandit thrilled Indian audience in a Bollywood flick and became the dream bike for youth.

    Suzuki GSX100R

    On the other hand, Suzuki GSX100R will be available at Rs 12.5 lakh. However now company is looking for new locations for dealerships in India to expand its network. The company has Suzuki GS150R, Suzuki Zeus 125XCD and Suzuki Zeus 125EU in its portfolio.

    Meanwhile, other new bikes including Honda CB Twister and TVS Jive been launched in recently concluded Delhi Auto Expo 2010.

  • Royal Enfield to increase bikes cost

    India based bike maker company Royal Enfield is going to hike its bikes costs very soon. Thanks to Bharat Stage III emission norms. To comply with new emission norms, the company has to upgrade powertrain of its product line for lesser emissions, a senior official of the company quoted by saying to a new agency. Interestingly, the price tags of Royal Enfield bikes already hefty and cost more or less around one lakh.

    The company had launched its new bikes, Royal Enfield Bullet classic 500cc and Royal Enfield Bullet classic 350cc, at the end of last year. As per the information available with us, only 1,000 units of Bullet Classic 500 have been delivered since November 2009.

    The company is still legging behind to produce 3000-4000 bikes for domestic and around 2K for export purpose.

  • New electric scooter launched by BSA

    BSA Electric scooter launched a new electric scooter named as BSA Edge at Delhi Auto Expo 2010.

    BSA Edge is available in four attractive shades and its ex-showroom price in Delhi is Rs 35,500.

    In addition to this, the company also launched an electric scooter especially for disabled people. This is christened BSA Romer Able which is priced at Rs 35,300 (ex-showroom, Delhi). It will also be available in four shades. However, it will hit showroom during February 2010.

    BSA Edge has rated motor power of 1250 watts, highest in the category, and motor peak power of 1600 watts. Before this, the company had launched motors of maximum 1000 watts. Edge is also equipped with speed selection switch. Edge has also better capacity of climbing, torque and acceleration. BSA Edge requires maximum six to eight hours for charging.

    On the other hand, for smooth ride, Roamer Able sports independent rear suspension which offers the rider a stable ride and provides adjustable rear shock absorbers.

    Romer's top speed is 40 kmph in power mode and 25 kmph in economy mode. Its reversing feature makes parking easier. The company targets to provide higher speed, power and efficiency to their customer but now its on early stages of developing advanced motor controller technology.

    BSA's Diva, Smile, Street Rider, Roamer (NUO) and Roamer (NXG) were on display at Delhi Auto Expo 2010. Hero Honda bikes were also showcased in the Auto Expo to name a few including Hero Honda Karizma ZMR, Hero Honda Glamour.

  • Hero Honda to set up another plant

    Hero Honda, one of the leading two-wheeler maker in India, wants to set up a new facility. The new plant which will be the fourth one, will take around six months. Already the company has three production plants at Haridwar, Dharuhera and Gurgaon.

    The total production capacity of all these plants are 50 lakh units per year. The company managed to sell around 34,13,594 units in this fiscal. According to Hero Honda MD Pawan Munjal, the company is doing a feasibility study in line to set up a new greenfield facility which might take around six months time.

    Meanwhile, Hero Honda intends to manufacture 45 lakh units of Hero Honda bikes in India in 2009-10. Interestingly, the target was 40 lakh units initially and was increased thereafter to 45 lakh. However, the leading two-wheeler maker could manufacture only 37 lakh units in India last financial year. The flagship bike model of the company is Hero Honda Splendor and it contributes in a big way in the sales front. The company had launched Hero Honda Karizma ZMR to compete with other heavy bike makers in India.

  • Yamaha scooter to be launched in India

    Yamaha scooter might be launched in India very soon. As per reports, the company is studying the scooter market in India and will take a decision after the results of the report. Already the company is selling scooters in overseas market. The product range and initial information is not disclosed but scooter launch will be there for sure. It is to be mentioned that Honda is the market leader in scooter segment with Honda Activa, Honda Dio and Honda Aviator.

Bajaj Auto's gearless scooter is Bajaj Kristal and Hero Honda sells Hero Honda Pleasure while Hero Honda Karizma ZMR and Hero Honda Splendor Plus are very popular in India. At present, Indian two-wheeler market is 80 lakh units per year which is 75 per cent is shared by motorcycles only. Yamaha announced to achieve 10 per cent of bike market in India by the year 2012.

  • TVS bikes to become costly

    TVS Motors bikes to become costly by February 2010, as per the company. But the company has not disclose the reason of price hike. TVS bikes are getting good response and it earned robust profit but a year ago it was not the same case. On the contrary, no other bike manufacturer have not announced price hike.

    That might be a major factor in near future. However, the company has worked out some plans to increase the sales by launching new bikes in different segments. In addition, it is working on to enhance the mileage of their bikes in India.

    According to officials the company was taken this decision seeing the response at Delhi Auto Expo 2010. If the prices are increased it would have to compete with Hero Honda Karizma ZMR and Hero Honda Splendor Plus as TVS has a good number of entry-level bikes and sports bikes in its portfolio.

    TVS Showcased its new launched at Delhi Auto Expo such as TVS Jive, TVS Wego and TVS Scooty Streek. It also displayed TVS Apache RTR 180 with ABS and RLP which stands for Rear Wheel lift-off Protection.
